Get ready to drop, cover and hold on

Cracked pavement after earthquake

Once again, the Great B.C. ShakeOut drill will take place on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 10:18 a.m.

Hundreds of thousands of British Columbians will take part in a dress rehearsal to practice how to “drop, cover, and hold on” in the event of a high-magnitude earthquake.

An opportunity to practice how to be safe during earthquakes, residents and businesses are encouraged to register at https://www.shakeoutbc.ca to be counted in the drill and to obtain resources and information.

The B.C. Shakeout website has a wealth of information about how to participate and most importantly, how to perform the Drop, Cover and Hold On — a quake-safe action designed to protect people from objects that can become projectiles during ground shaking.
